Recently studies have shown that some anticancer-drugs could induce
G2/M arrest and apoptosis accompanying down-regulation of Akt[20–22]. Meanwhile, we also found that Osthole treatment down-regulated Cdc2/Cyclin B1, Bcl-2 protein and up-regulated Bax in our study. In summary, these results indicated that Osthole induced G2/M arrest and apoptosis possibly by down-regulating Akt signaling in human lung cancer A549 cells. Conclusions Our studies demonstrated that Osthole inhibited the growth of human lung cancer A549 cells by inducing G2/M arrest and apoptosis. This might be the important mechanisms of Osthole Tariquidar suppressed the growth of the lung cancer cells.
